Ghana: creative economy and Diaspora Roundtables

2025 · December, Accra, Ghana

Context

I ran the Ghana mission and the press run around it, and organised Diaspora Roundtables: Beyond Detty December in Accra. The work moved the conversation past seasonal celebration and towards systems, ownership and what survives January.

My role

Mission planning · Event organiser · Press and media relations · Narrative strategy

  • The Accra mission itself, focused on creative infrastructure, diaspora engagement and long-term ecosystem building.
  • Diaspora District work on Africa's creative talent pipeline: treating creativity as infrastructure rather than risk, and designing education and promotion pathways that scale.
  • Diaspora Roundtables: Beyond Detty December at Jambo Spaces, a closed-room working session with more than fifty creatives, operators, artists and builders.
  • The press run, including live interviews on 3Music TV, national broadcast conversations and radio discussions on narrative ownership and the meaning behind Detty December.
  • Observation and reporting on scale: crowd flow, technical standards, venue limitations and the touring infrastructure Ghana's demand already justifies.

A working framework for year-round livelihoods, shared ownership and safety standards as scale increases. Culture already works; infrastructure decides whether it lasts.
